About

PROVAIL is one of the state's largest private, multi-service agencies committed to meeting the needs of children and adults with disabilities - including those with the most severe disabilities, for whom service options and resources are often limited. Through our Mobility & Technology focus area, PROVAIL provides children, youth, and adults with the communication devices they need to be successful and maximize their independence.

PROVAIL is now recruiting staff volunteers for the 2016 Volunteer Fall Project. This project is focused on working with individuals who are non-verbal and use communication devices, known as Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Your group will work together to create and complete a project to take place during the fall of 2016, and present findings to PROVAIL. As a team, you will complete a project to provide a needed AAC service to the community. The team will be run by a Volunteer Coordinator, and the team as a whole will be overseen by a speech-language pathologist at PROVAIL.

This volunteer program requires commitment, dedication, and a desire to make a difference for individuals with disabilities. You must be able to be self-directed and work as a team toward a common goal. This opportunity is ideal for students who are studying to become therapists or mental health specialists, or who have a specific interest and background in autism, developmental delay, cerebral palsy, or individuals who are non-verbal.

Time commitments for staff volunteers are 20-30 hours/month between September 20 th and December 15 th. All volunteers are required to complete an application and background check. Please ask daniw@provail.org for an application. Please include some information about yourself and your interest in this volunteer opportunity. Specifically note "2016 Volunteer Fall Project" in your application.
