Every day WAN receives questions about reporting animal cruelty abroad and on the internet, rehoming pets, taking action on cruelty reported in the media, and more. WAN does not have the staff or resources to take on the cases that are reported to us, but we do want to ensure that every person looking for help receives a timely response and actionable information.
As the office assistant and WAN representative, you will check and sort daily email, researching and providing information for each inquiry. Staff will provide form letters for common questions which you will tailor appropriately.
REQUIREMENTS
Strong writing skills and a solid understanding or willingness to learn about animal protection issues, including wildlife, farm animals, animal experimentation, companion animals, working animals, etc. Past experience in customer service positions a plus. Two references are required for this position.
SCHEDULE AND TIME COMMITMENT
This position requires a commitment to manage WAN's email on a weekly basis, on the same day or days each week. Each day of email management will entail roughly an hour of time, but the volunteer may determine which and how many days s/he will be responsible for, as well as what time of day the email will be checked.

Mission Statement
World Animal Net's mission is to improve the status and welfare of animals worldwide by offering the animal protection community information, expertise and new opportunities to connect, collaborate, and campaign for change.
Description
World Animal Net is a unique organization working for animals worldwide. We accomplish this work through two main approaches:
- By providing resources to animal protection organizations on public policy, humane education, effective campaigning, collaboration and coalition building, and more. By providing these resources we empower organizations to work more effectively, address the root causes of animal suffering and create sustainable positive change in the treatment of animals.
- By advocating for animals on an international level at the World Organisation for Animal Health, the United Nations, the World Bank, and more.
The majority of WAN's outreach occurs online, which is why volunteers who can help us expand our online presence and connect with the organizations we serve are crucial to our mission. We truly appreciate our volunteers and are so grateful for their support.
