PeaceWorks Inc., home of the Mountain Peace Shelter, is the only domestic violence shelter in 2,700 square miles, encompassing all of Park County and mountain Jefferson County, Colorado. We also staff a 24/7 Crisis Line providing information, support and referrals.
We currently need volunteers for the following:
Client Services:
- 24 hour crisis Line-Volunteers are needed to answer the crisis line during the evenings and on weekends. All Crisis Line volunteers must attend crisis line training and domestic violence training
- Safe Pet Program-Includes fostering animals, coordinating program, building/cleaning pet rooms at the shelter
- Individual Client Needs
- Childcare for clients
- Transportation to appointments
- Advocacy and Mentoring
- Moving Help
Shelter Services:
- Shelter Repairs
- Handymen for plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc
- Car mechanics-Needed for vehicle repair and maintenanceYard Work
- Yard Work-Mowing, Weeding
- Maintenance
- House Cleaning- Adopt a room to clean monthly/ redecorate
Outreach / Office Help:
- Filing
- Community Education
- Donations-Coordinator for intake and organization
- Community Events-Working the Mountain Peace Shelter Booth
- Fundraising
- Collection and management
