Rock n' Roll Carnival 2015 with Fishbone

Musack's Rock n' Roll Carnival is our annual concert to raise funds for giving more guitars to more kids. It's a full day of music from a variety of bands and family friendly activities. Past bands have included Rancid, She & Him, Childish Gambino, John Doe & Exene Cervenka, Superchunk, Yo La Tengo, Polyphonic Spree, and Lisa Loeb.

We need volunteers to help check people in, run the silent auction, and help keep the event running smoothly. Great experience for anyone interested in music. Shifts are 4-6 hours, and you can stay to enjoy the rest of the concert before/after your shift.

About MUSACK

Location:

520 S. Rossmore Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90020, US

Mission Statement

MUSACK’s mission is to provide a space where kids can tell their stories through music and feel empowered. Our vision is to create a generation of creative and entrepreneurial geniuses who will go on to found the next Pandora, Netflix, or Apple...Or maybe become the modern day Jimi Hendrix.

Description

MUSACK was founded by writer-producer Donick Cary with a simple vision, raise some dough to fund musical programs for his hometown high school on Nantucket Island. Donick organized a series of music festivals, first on Nantucket and then in LA, to pay for guitars and lessons at the high school. People really dug the festivals and soon enough other groups on ACK began asking for guitars and music programming. (And in case you wondering, ACK is what Nantucketers affectionately call the island; it’s the airport code for Nantucket.)

New programs were added - off-island field trips, cultural exchanges to explore other types of music (in Ireland!), and even a scholarship fund for talented students wanting to pursue a degree in music-related studies.
