L.A. Works Day 2016: Planning Committee

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: L.A. Works

Be the Backbone of L.A. Works Day 2016!

L.A. Works is proud to celebrate its 25th anniversary year by partnering with LA Coalition to End Youth Homelessness (LACEYH), a countywide collaborative body of over 200 member organizations and community leaders dedicated to ending youth homelessness in Los Angeles. On October 1, 2016 thousands of corporate and community volunteers will engage in hands-on service projects (e.g.: building, gardening, and painting murals) in Hollywood to enhance nonprofits, shelter facilities for youth, and public school sites. Volunteers will also assemble hygiene kits and other basic need packets for the 11,000 LAUSD students without stable housing, as well as participate in interactive opportunities, including a service fair for homeless youth.

To prepare for this incredible day of service, we’re putting together a Planning Committee to handle all aspects of the event. We’re specifically looking for leadership in the following areas:

  • Communications
  • Marketing/PR
  • Early morning kick-off activity planning (Salsa?! Zumba?! - what will get folks going?)
  • Volunteer Administration
  • Helping source materials and secure in-kind donations of goods/services
  • Planning & project leadership for the lunchtime extravaganza to celebrate our 25th Anniversary!

All roles require some evening and weekend commitments as well as access to a phone and computer with Internet.
In general, we seek Committee Members with:

  • Strong communications skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM system
  • Experience recruiting and managing others
