Camp Erin Tampa Bay is a weekend sleep away camp specifically designed for kids and teens, 1st-12th grade, who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life. At Camp Erin, kids have the opportunity to explore, express, and memorialize while being around other kids who have experienced similar losses in their lives. Camp Erin Tamp Bay will be held at the Word of Life Retreat Center located in Hudson, FL.
Camp Erin is FREE to all campers made possible by Suncoast Kid's Place and a grant from The Moyer Foundation.
Camp Erin is filled with traditional, fun camp activities combined with grief education and emotional support. Camp Erin offers a place where campers can interact and bond with peers. It is a place where they can express their feelings of grief, learn coping skills and most importantly, begin their healthy healing grief journey.
Camp Erin Tampa Bay asks all volunteers to be role models for the campers. They should provide comfort and support while participating in the camp activities with the campers. Most importantly we ask volunteers to create a positive, fun, and energetic atmosphere.
Volunteers must be 18 years or older and be in good physical condition. Volunteers need to be able to meet a criminal background check, fill out an application, participate in an orientation interview, and attend all required volunteer training and relevant meetings. Please note that although we attempt to place every volunteer, we may not be able to place all applicants due to the large number of applications received.

About Suncoast Kids Place
Location:

Mission Statement
The mission of the Center is to provide support for children/teens from 3-18 years of age and their families, who have experienced the death of a significant person...as an expression of the ongoing ministry of Jesus Christ.
Description
Suncoast Kids Place is founded on the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to grieve in a supportive and understanding environment. However, our society fails to understand or support the needs of a child and family in grief. We offer ongoing grief support for the death of a significant person. Families are invited to join our organization at any point after the death and can stay with us as long as they desire. Our groups range in age from 3-18 years old and their caregiver. In addition to our peer support groups we also are able to offer a once a year weekend camp called Camp Erin.
