Be a Mentor. Change a Life!
Are you 55+, RSVP Senior Corps needs you to be a youth mentor.
An out-of-school time program that improves school readiness for 3 rd to 6 th graders who face adversity. Mentors improve the lives of the young program participants by:
- Providing opportunities to engage in meaningful relationships with trained, caring adult mentors
- Bolstering their social and emotional development
- Fostering an appreciation for scholastics and reading
As a mentor, you will work closely with a small group of youth participants for two hours once a week. Each week, you will assist with homework and facilitate ethics discussions.
You Gain:
Continued personal and professional development and training in addition to the ability to make a measurable impact on the students you mentor.
This is an Experience Matters RSVP Senior Corps program. RSVP Volunteers are 55 and older and demonstrate to policy makers and the community the impact of senior volunteerism, locale and nationally. RSVP volunteers also receive a mileage reimbursement and secondary accident and liability insurance coverage.
The minimum time commitment is 2.5 hours a week from September through April, 26 consecutive weeks. During the afterschool hours (ranging from 2pm - 6pm)
