At APC we use all our resources to help our residents break the cycle of homelessness and poverty. We run an organic urban farm and Comunity Supported Agriculture program on a 2-acre growing site. We run the farm as an on-the-job training program for our residents to gain work skills and confidence to get back in the workforce. On the farm we have fruit trees, berry bushes, and annual and perrenial crops, and we harvest and pack produce boxes for over 50 CSA members weekly. We are looking for individual volunteers to help keep our farm running and thriving! This Summer and Fall we particularly need help harvesting, there's so much bounty out in the fields that needs to be picked! This is an on-going volunteer opportunity, during the work times listed below. This is a great opportunity to gain experience working on an urban farm, to learn about growing food organically, and to work closely with our trainees and learn about the work of APC.
We work:
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9am-1:30pm
Wednesdays from 2pm-6:30pm
We harvest on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On those days you can definitely expect to take home some produce!
