FreeRange Playground is coming to Montessori School of Denver! We are setting up a pop-up play area for the whole community to attend. Help us facilitate play with kids ages 5-12!

About FreeRange Playground

We create unstructured play spaces where kids can use recycled and repurposed materials to imagine, build and destory with minimal adult intervention. These spaces allow kids to engage in intrisically motivated free play and take age appropriate risks so that they can learn about themselves and their world.

What's Will I Be Doing?

As a Play Worker, you help uphold THE RULE:

Have the best time that you can while you are here and try not to hurt yourself or anyone else.

Acting as a Play Worker is akin to being a lifeguard at a pool. You can help children if they ask you to, but your primary function is to oversee the children’s activities so that you can step in if a child is a danger to himself or others.

If you are over the age of 16, and can spare 30 minutes for training and two hours this summer at a pop-up playground, we want to work with you!

The Perks

In addition to the joy of supervising kids that are having a wonderful time at play, all volunteers will receive complementary drinks and a FreeRange Playground t-shirt. Volunteers working 4 hours or more on a single day will also receive a voucher for lunch.

Indicate your desired date(s) and time(s), your t-shirt size, and contact information so we can follow up with you. You will be required to attend a mandatory training session prior to volunteering for the first time with FreeRange Playground.

Mission Statement

Remember as kid when you ran wild with a pack of friends on a summer day, without a care in the world? You did what you wanted. You played. You took risks. You challenged each other. You built a fort / pirate ship / space station. All with minimal parental supervision. Many kids these days, especially in urban environments, have limited access to free play. We're looking to change that. At FreeRange Playground, we want bring unstructured, free-form playspaces to urban communities in Colorado. Children of all ages will be able to use recycled and repurposed everyday materials to imagine, create, and destroy as they see fit. No one will tell them what to do or how to do it. No one will tell them who to play with or how to work in a team. We trust our kids. Let's empower them, and give them a safe space to figure things out on their own.
