Title: Research Assistant Intern

Department: Research Department

Internship & Task Supervisor: Associate Director Katherine Campbell. Expertise in Human Service, Executive Leadership, and Program / Project Management.

About: I'RAISE is a small BIPOC led 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in NYC. We provide 100% free educational resources, programs, and services to vulnerable families and children in under-resourced and under-served communities in NYC since 2013 and virtually since 2022. We provide free programs such as tutoring, mentoring, coaching, college and career preparation, parent support, virtual performing arts classes, and much more. Summary: Are you looking to make a difference in the lives of youth through your research, while growing professionally and educationally? Then apply now to Our New Center for Training & Research Center Committee as Research Assistant Intern(s). The Research Assistant Team will have the opportunity to write & publish scholarly articles in the areas of Youth Development, The effects of poverty on minority youth, the benefits of your Development programs on minority youth, the psychological effects on COVID, and Racism. Time: 10 to 15 hours a week Commitment: 4 to 6 months commitment Start date: Flexible. Depends on when you would like to start Location: Virtual / Remote

Daily life of a Research Assistant Intern:

  • Do literature reviews
  • Write survey questions
  • Analyze survey data
  • Write reports and make visualizations about research/evaluation findings
  • Conduct focus groups or other qualitative research experience
  • Write & publish scholarly articles
  • Research in the areas of Youth Development, The effects of poverty on BI-POC youth, the benefits of youth Development programs on BI-POC youth, the psychological effects of COVID, and Racism.
  • Explore research topics
  • Need to attend virtual department meetings and training/s
  • Assist with research-related assignments as needed
  • Research areas include: COVID-19 Vaccine Perception, High School truancy in Bronx, NYC School, The impact of Mentoring School based programs on academic performance and student attendance, and much more!
  • We currently have a small team of research assistants who has been working actively on these projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate and college students are welcome to apply, and/or professionals in the field of Social Work, Teaching, Program Evaluation, Research, and Academics.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, Basic understanding of social platforms, Writing experience a plus, Organizational skills, Interpersonal skills, Innovative, imaginative, and resourceful, Flexibility in schedule, Collaborative team player
  • Proficient in G-Suite (preferred)

I’RAISE Boys & Girls International Corporation is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization in New York City founded in 2012. We have been providing free tutoring, mentoring and coaching services, virtual performance classes, college preparation program, nutrition workshops, and parent education program. As a minority led non-profit organization with leaders that are women of colors, we feel so much pride and we are so proud being able to provide beneficial resources to the children in under-resourced areas in New York City in-person and multiple-states virtually. And we have been successful in providing these services because of our volunteers.
