Position: Marketing Communications Internship/Volunteer

Description: CDK is seeking a dynamic, self-starter to assist in our marketing and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing communications while working with a growing, nonprofit organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of creative concepts and marketing strategies for promoting CDK’s work and securing donations from first time and repeat donors
  • Work with staff to update and maintain CDK’s social media and web presence
  • Assist in planning, writing and managing monthly eNewsletter
  • Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and client stories
  • Design flyers, graphics, e-vites and other marketing material for events hosted by CDK
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings
  • Reach out to the community organizations, general public and donors with the message of increasing independence for children with disabilities by promoting service dog awareness and partnerships
  • Collaborating with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications
  • Assist in other duties and projects as assigned

Description

Canines for Disabled Kids (CDK) is a 501(C)(3) headquartered in Worcester, MA, that promotes programs related to service dogs which increase independence for children with disabilities. CDK’s programs include;

  • Providing guidance to families of children with disabilities to determine if a service dog is the right tool for their child, and recommendations for the best service dog training program to meet their child’s needs
  • Awarding scholarships to help offset the cost to train a service dog
  • Presenting educational programs to school, businesses and other community groups, which raise the awareness of service dogs, and make communities welcoming to child-canine teams
