We will be doing our next Patient Support Orientation at Altus Hospice on Saturday, September 10th, 2016! If you are interested in becoming a Hospice Volunteer - anywhere in the Austin or surrounding areas - please contact me. We are really needing volunteers in, East Austin, Cedar Park, Round Rock, and Georgetown.
No medical experience required.
What our Patient Support Volunteers do: (but not limited to)
visit with patients where they reside
- listen to stories about life and travels
- read a book
- watch TV or a movie
- take patient outside
- go for a walk
- read to patient
- be read to
- get hugged
- smile
- laugh out loud
give a caregiver a break
- sit with a patient while a caregiver: goes to the store or doctor, takes a nap, goes out to lunch with friends.....
visit with our bereaved - (loved ones left behind when someone dies)
- either in person, or over the phone
- call our bereaved and check in with them to see how they are doing
Our Volunteers choose:
- WHAT they want to do as a volunteer
- WHERE they want to volunteer
- WHEN they want to volunteer
We are really needing Volunteers
South - Especially in East Austin
North - in the Round Rock and Georgetown areas
