About

Purpose:

To secure funding for PI programs while developing an annual grant-seeking plans and strategies along with submit winning grant proposals.


Position Description:

Passion Impact seeks enthusiastic and dynamic Grant Writers who will be responsible for developing and writing winning grant proposals. The proposal will be designed to secure funding from public institutions, private foundations, corporations and other grant-making entities to support and implement all aspects of the organization’s program. The Grant Writer Interns will possess exemplary writing and communication skills and will persuasively convey Passion Impact’s mission and programs to potential funders. Our ideal interns will be responsible for reporting to the Executive Director, collaborating to develop strategies, crafting narratives, and assembling and submitting grant requests.


Required Education:

Recent Graduate or undergraduate in communication, English, writing or relevant field

Skills and Work Experience Desired:

  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience preferred

  • Excellent grammar and strong research skills

  • Ability to work well under pressure

  • Proactive communication skills with the ability to synthesize information in a compelling and succinct form

  • A solid understanding of budgets as they relate to proposal and grant procurement

  • Familiarity with office technologies such as Google Applications, Salesforce, and MeisteTask, etc.

  • Team Player with outstanding planning skills

Duties :

  • Conduct the full range of activities required to conceptualize, write, submit, and manage grant proposals

  • Maintain submission calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposals, and reports

  • Liaise with the Treasurer to collect relevant financial, program, attendance and audience detail to create budgets

  • Research prospective new grants

  • Maintain records in Salesforce and in a paper format, including grant tracking and reporting

  • Research all applicable grants in the Portland, Oregon, Pacific Northwest, and National areas


Objectives:

  • Develop a diversified network of funding organizations.

  • Continually update the annual funding plan that includes appropriate fields for future applicant interns

  • Organize and update the Salesforce database

  • Communicate with 10 granting agencies to establish relationships and get grant application approval

  • Develop at least 5 grant proposals

  • Understand how Ethical Reasoning in Action ties to the internship, the people involved, and to yourself

  • Complete an Internship Portfolio that includes a personal reflection and a presentation


Minimum Commitment: August 29, 2016 - January 20, 2017 with possibility to extend based on performance and project availability
