Share your love of history! The DAR Museum is looking for new tour guides to join its volunteer docent program. Docents give tours of the DAR Museum, focusing primarily on the 31 Period Rooms. As the only exclusively decorative arts museum in Washington, D.C., the DAR Museum tells the American story through the unique lens of the American home. All persons age 18 or over are welcome to apply. No background in museums, education, or decorative arts necessary. We are now accepting applications for the Spring 2019 New Docent Training, which will be held May 6th, 7th, 13th, & 14th. Applications must be submitted by March 31, 2019.

Mission Statement
The DAR Museum looks at the American experience through objects and art of the American home from the Colonial Era to the early 20th century.
Description
The DAR Museum provides public programs for children, families, students, adults and special interest groups, such as the Girl Scouts. The DAR Museum, founded in 1890, is a decorative arts museum telling the story of early American home life with a collection of 30,000 objects dating from the 18th through early 20th century. The Museum has one annual exhibition, two galleries, and thirty-one period rooms.
