Volunteer for Logistics Support of a Health Care NGO (NYC metropolitan area preferred)
Global Outreach Doctors (GoDocs) is rapidly expanding, so we are now seeking a volunteer to support the Logistics Manager with deployments to healthcare disasters. You will report to, and work closely with, the Logistics Manager, who is located in Brookyn, so it is preferred that you are located in the NYC area. Remote interaction is possible, however, as this is a work that is mostly done over the internet. The position requires small amounts of time on a daily basis to check emails, and occasionally larger chunks of time to work on specific projects. This volunteer work should be able to be performed without affecting a full-time job. Although this is a mostly virtual position, it would be preferred if training could be done in person, in Brooklyn. This is an unpaid volunteer position, however, written reference will be provided upon successful completion of a two month internship. Excellent work may lead to a permanent position with GoDocs.
NYC preferred, but can be performed remotely from other locations.
Minimum two-month commitment, with option to become permanent. 10-15 hours/week commitment. Time must be divided throughout the week so that emails are answered expediently.
Assist a healthcare NGO with logistics and human resources so that medical teams can be deployed with short notice to international and domestic disasters.
Work with Logistics Manager to develop optimal ways of documenting and managing logistics.
Organize meetings using Vyte and Google Business Apps. Ensure meetings have proper documentation.
Ensure all volunteers have proper documents on file and are ready to be deployed straightaway.
Option may be available to join the team on deployments depending on the nature of the disaster.
Global health passion. Curiosity about optimal problem solving. Excellent organizational skills. Attention to details. Fast email response times. Mastery of English. Knowledge of internet and social media. Familiarity with Google Apps. Ownership of a laptop, tablet, and smartphone required. Reliable internet access required. Training will be provided.
