Docents guide the public through the museum's exhibits, and help interpret those exhibits. Docents lead tour groups (both adults and children), assist in the execution of educational programs and may conduct special activities for students, adults and families. A passion for history and storytelling is helpful, but you need not be an expert already--we will teach you what you need to know to conduct an hour-long tour through our exhibits!
Docents are needed Tuesday-Sat from 9-5, and should commit to at least 4 hour of volunteering per month, for at least 6 months. Docents undergo a specialized training course, and are pivotal to the success of the museum.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center is to collect, preserve, interpret and celebrate Arkansas' African American history, culture, and community from 1870 to the present, and to inform and educate the public about African Americans' achievements - especially in business, politics and the arts.
Description
The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, a museum of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, focuses on African American history and culture in Arkansas. MTCC gets its name from its location--the building is on the original site of the Mosaic Templars of America, an African American fraternal organization offering mutual aid to the black community, founded in 1882.
MTCC is sharing the stories, histories and culture of a vibrant and important community that has helped shape Arkansas. As an active part of the community, we are always seeking volunteer assistance to interprete our exhibits for the public, share stories and opportunities with schools and other youth groups, help with daily operations and special events, and bring MTCC's mission to all parts of the state.
