CIANA has a unique opportunity for a passionate, social justice minded self-starter who is interested in acquiring community engagement and executive non-profit management experience. This is a professional opening to be an agent of social change and gain valuable experience running a non-profit organization and serving new immigrant communities.

As CIANA moves into it's next phase of operations, we're looking for a volunteer Deputy to the Diretor to apply their creativity towards making a difference in the lives of New York's most marginalized populations. CIANA will equally provide professional development, training opportunities and hands-on experience throughout the year.

If you are looking to connect with newcomer communities and are exited to build partnerships with community organizations in the most diverse borough in the country - this opportunity is for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the CEO (50%) including
  1. Office finance management
  2. Program administration
  3. Board engagement
  • Program Coordinator (25%)
  1. Oversee placement of volunteers in programs
  2. Administration duties related to volunteer management (keep program attendance logs organized and updated)
  • Volunteer Management (25%)
  1. Assessment of office needs for volunteer positions
  2. Interview and orientation procedures
  3. Oversee administrative duties related to volunteer management, such as updating volunteer listings on internet platforms, management of volunteer email account and response to applications

Qualifications:

  • Have / pursuing a master degree, preferably in community services or non-profit management
  • Be available full-time (minimum 4x / week)
  • Have experience in administration, program management, and / or supervision
  • Be highly organized, goal oriented, and a problem solver

To provide special transitional services which will lead to the successful integration of newcomers into American society while continuing to maintain pride in their own cultural heritage .

Description

Immigrants and refugees will be provided with the tools to emerge from poverty, isolation, and linguistic barriers to become full, productive American citizens. Our services promote family well-being and stability, provide counseling and support services, and expose newcomers to the social, economic and educational opportunities available to them. Professional social services will include ESOL and civics classes, citizenship preparation, adult literacy, child welfare and youth services, legal and immigration assistance, financial literacy, micro credit and finance, employment assistance, and information and referral services. Newcomers will gain a deeper understanding of western culture and how to incorporate its positive qualities into their lives without fear of losing their culture and identity; it will help them shape an identity that encompasses the best of both worlds and prevents their isolation and marginalization.
