Project Development

HFH of Utah County is seeking a Project Development VISTA who will strengthen and expand the critical home repair and beautification programs, establish a viable Mobile Tool Library program, and create a successful Provo Neighborhood Revitalization (NR) program. This VISTA member will help create more successful NR programs within the local community by utilizing neighborhood and community collaboration and partnerships to better meet the need of the critical housing issues within the community. Some of the programs will then be replicated and expanded in the future to have a greater impact on our county as a whole.

Member Activities Include:

  1. Develop new systems and programs that will increase the number of families served at the site.
  2. Develop community partnerships that will support programs, develop leadership and leverage resources.
  3. Develop methods to increase participation with project, including presentations, materials and systems for recruitment of partners, volunteers and leadership.
  4. Develop systems to accurately track and record project related data, focused on ensuring sustainability. Develop evaluation tools that will assist in projecting and assessing project impact.
  5. Formulate results and present to key stakeholders to establish direction of project.
  6. Develop all processes, materials, and procedures for project.
  7. Work with neighborhood leaders to develop neighborhood driven events or projects for each of the CDBG eligible neighborhoods in Provo.
  8. Develop monthly schedule and routes for Tool Library.
  9. Develop Police Picnic Schedule for May- September and work with neighborhood leaders to identify potential hosts.
  10. Develop marketing plan for advertising the critical home repair programs and Mobile Tool Library throughout the community. Help develop marketing material.
  11. Identify possible partnerships for marketing and referrals for programs.

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills required for this position

  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to meet host site’s insurance requirements
  • Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word/Excel)
  • Knowledge of, and willingness to promote, the mission and activities of Habitat for Humanity and AmeriCorps
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Experience working as a member of a team
  • Knowledge of community development practices preferred
  • Project management experience preferred
  • A second language is highly desirable, with preferred language being Spanish.
  • Experience with grant management (especially with government grants) is helpful.

Requirements to serve at this site:
18 years of age or older
U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent (or agree to work towards one while serving)
Confirm understanding that this is a full-time volunteer opportunity and that AmeriCorps members receive a small living allowance
Driver's license required
Personal vehicle required
