Compass SF Home provides rental subsidies for up to two years, coupled with intensive support services, to eligible families. The program helps families in danger of homelessness to retain their housing and rapidly re-houses homeless families so that they can work towards long-term self-sufficiency.
With the current housing market in San Francisco. many of the families who come through Compass SF HOME have to be housed outside of the city. This makes it very difficult for them to take advantage of all the services Compass offers. One way to help easy the transition for families is to tutor them in their own communities.
Compass is looking for volunteers to tutor adult clients who are working toward specific education or professional goals. These clients benefit greatly from forming a relationship with a weekly tutor who can help them with homework, job applications, online research, English-speaking skills, etc.
Compass will match volunteers' interest level, skills and location with clients. Tutors will meet clients in a neutral community space.
Compass Family Services helps homeless families and families at imminent risk of homelessness achieve housing stability, economic self-sufficiency and family well-being.
