Race for Every Child 2016

The fourth annual Children’s National Race for Every Child, to be held on Saturday, October 1 at Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C. The Race for Every Child is more than a 5K run and walk. It’s a community event that brings together more than 7,000 families, community leaders, partners, and sponsors to support a common vision - to help children grow up stronger. Proceeds from the race directly support therapies, research, advocacy, wellness and education programs, and family support at Children’s National Health System, regardless of the family’s ability to pay.

The Race for Every Child features a wide range of family-friendly activities at Freedom Plaza including:

  • A USATF-certified 5K course down Pennsylvania Avenue for runners and walkers
  • Kids’ Dash for children ages 3 to 10 and medals for all participants
  • Awards ceremony for top finishers, fundraisers, and teams
  • On-course entertainment
  • Champions tent for top fundraisers with special incentives
  • A family fun village including fitness activities, live entertainment, face painting, balloon art, food trucks, and more

The event would not be a success without the support of more than 400 volunteers. Volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to help in the areas of:

  • Packet pick-up
  • Water station
  • Food/beverage stop
  • T-shirt pick-up
  • Children’s area
  • Kids’ Dash
  • Course Marshalls

All volunteers with receive a volunteer race t-shirt, post-race drinks and snacks, and a rewarding opportunity, helping us fulfill the mission of Children’s National. To sign up as a volunteer visit volunteer.raceforeverychild.org
