rLooking for committed, reliable volunteers to make a difference in the lives of individuals with MEDICARE and their caregivers by providing education and outreach to promote the GeorgiaCares program, educate the community about issues affecting people with Medicare and provide individual counseling in both group and individual settings. Volunteers would also teach Medicare beneficiaries how to protect their personal identity, detect potential errors, fraud and abuse through creative presentations, classes or community outreach.
GeorgiaCares volunteers enjoy educating seniors for a minimum of 4 hours per month in the community in various settings such as senior centers, libraries, community events...all with a flexible schedule convenient for you and suitable for the goals of the program. Online and one-on-one training provided at no cost to you. This opportunity is perfect for retirees, college students, gerontology interns, and professionals. Mission Statement
To assist older individuals, at-risk adults, persons with disabilities, as well as their families and caregivers to achieve safe, healthy, independent and self-reliant lives. The GeorgiaCares program is a volunteer based program providing free, unbiased and factual information and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers in Georgia while endeavoring to reduce fraud, error and abuse in the Medicare system.
Description
GeorgiaCares is the State health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) and SMP (Senior Medicare Patrol) project. They provide personalized counseling, education and outreach to assist Medicare beneficiaries with their Medicare questions. Services provided help beneficiaries identify and understand Medicare programs and plans, including Medicare Supplement Insurance, Prescription Drug Coverage, Medicare Advantage Plans, long-term care insurance and other public and private health insurance coverage options. SMP teaches Medicare beneficiaries how to protect their personal identity, detact potential errors, fraud and abuse.
