Project Development - Communications

Habitat for Humanity International's National Service Department is seeking a Project Development - Communications VISTA Leader who will create a communication and outreach plan, resources and templates that will better tell the story of Habitat AmeriCorps to an internal and external audience for the purpose of candidate and host site promotion.

This VISTA project will specifically work on:

• Building a greater understanding of Habitat AmeriCorps with internal and external audiences.
• Working with HFHI Communications to document the best way to tell that Habitat AmeriCorps story with in the new marketing and branding guidelines.
• Creating a comprehensive program year communications plan
• Creating a social media plan
• Creating recommendations around promotional items
• Creating AmeriCorps week resources for host sites
• Creating recommendations around candidate promotion plan
• Creating an outreach plan for Habitat Affiliates
• Creating an outreach tracking document

Member Activities Include:

1. Develop two communication plans that are focused on the program year
2. Develop sharable graphics and infographics for recruitment, and AmeriCorps week
3. Develop structure for habitat.org/americorps
4. Organize ordering of promotional items
5. Develop toolkit for host sites and members around AmeriCorps Week
6. Develop toolkit for current members and alumni for recruitment campaign
7. Support Member Council
8. Create format and process for "Habitat AmeriCorps face book"
9. Create outreach plan to promote program to candidates
10. Create outreach plan to promote program to Habitat Affiliates

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills required for this position

• VISTA Leaders are former AmeriCorps VISTAs members, AmeriCorps National members, or Peace Corps volunteers who demonstrated exemplary skills and leadership in community service
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to meet host site’s insurance requirements
• Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word/Excel)
• Knowledge of, and willingness to promote, the mission and activities of Habitat for Humanity and AmeriCorps
• Strong research skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Detail oriented and highly organized
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people
• Experience working as a member of a team
• Knowledge of community development practices preferred
• Project management experience preferred
• Degree in communications, preferred

Requirements to serve at this site:
18 years of age or older
U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent (or agree to work towards one while serving)
Confirm understanding that this is a full-time volunteer opportunity and that AmeriCorps members receive a small living allowance
