As a classroom tutor you would interact with ESL students individually and/or in small groups. A licensed teacher conducts the class.

The time commitment is one morning per week, M-Th, 1-3 hours, depending which class(es) fits your interest and schedule.

It is not necessary to speak another language.

Volunteers say they enjoy students' respect for learning, the fun and interest of getting to know them, and being part of their progress.

Help adults acquire the skills, and provide the support, to pursue education and employment goals.

Description

Minneapolis Adult Education provides free classes in ESL, reading, writing, math, basic computer skills, and transition to work and college. Classes are available in the morning, afternoon, and evening. We are part of Minneapolis Community Education, Minneapolis Public Schools.

Volunteers participate once an week, for an hour or more depending on the class. We ask for a commitment of 3 months. Service learning has a different minimum.
