The HopeLine is a social service agency in the South Bronx that provides basic resources such as food and diapers, as well as Benefit enrollment services and classes-ESL & Civics, and Computer training.

We are looking for a volunteer Computer Instructor who can teach a 6 week workshop and potentially other similar workshops after.

The workshop will provide lessons to learn the "Introduction to Microsoft Office". Providing participants a basic tutorial in 3 Microsoft Office programs.

Word
Excel
Powerpoint

This class is an introduction for those looking to learn about programs used in schools and businesses. This will lead to other workshops such as "Introduction to Excel", "Advanced Powerpoint" etc.

Each student who participates will learn how to access each program, what the benefits are for work and/or school related activities, and they will learn simple tasks such as printing, creating a table, copy & paste, key shortcuts, etc.

As the instructor you will work closely with the Executive Director on setting up some of those specific goals and work with lesson plans that you help create.

This class is set up on Tuesdays 3:30-5:30pm, however, this can be adjusted to better fit your schedule. The class can hold 8 to 10 students at a given time and will last 6 weeks. The class is taught using laptops and a smart board, we ask that the volunteer stay up to 30 minutes after class to put away the equipment.

We are looking for someone that is very comfortable with working on a computer and has advanced knowledge on Microsoft Office programs. We prefer someone that has teaching experience however we are also excited to help someone who wants their first opportunity in teaching through this experience.

Class language will be based on enrollment, the languages may be English or Spanish and therefore require that you are bilingual.

We can also start the class sooner if it works better for your schedule, please contact the Executive Director, Maria Cintron, if you are interested.
