Purpose:

To create and provide skills trainings for students and volunteers in Passion Impact and the local community.


Description : Passion Impact (PI) is a startup nonprofit based in Portland, Oregon that empowers students to build a healthy habit of volunteering their passions. Our Training Interns will be responsible for developing training sessions for students and volunteers to learn their positions and how to use the internal applications that Passion Impact requires. In addition, they will create or organize trainings around specific skills that employers and students believe to be important. Our prime candidates will not only believe in our Golden Circle and mission, but also be invested in setting long term goals for PI as a whole. We work hard at PI and expect the same of you, but you also better be ready to have fun!


Required Education:

  • Graduate or currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in communication, education, or a related field of study


Experience and Skills Desired:

  • Lesson Plan creator

  • Project Management

  • Teaching or Leading background

  • Positive communication through email, phone, Skype, and face-to-face

  • Proficient in Google Drive (Particularly Google Forms and Google Sheets or MS Excel) Google Calendar, Meistertask, Mind Meister, Mailchimp, Salesforce, and/or ability to learn technology at a fast pace

  • Team player and the ability and willingness to work at least 10 hours per week


Objectives:

  • Know all positions in Passion Impact

  • Know how to use all of the applications that Passion Impact uses

  • Commit to and follow through with training at least 10 hours week

  • Create at volunteer opportunities for at least 5 students to get engaged

  • Increase Passion Impact exposure in the community


Duties:

  • Complete Passion Impact training

  • Understand what students and the community would like to learn

  • Survey employers and understand what skills are in highest demand now and in 5 years

  • Build a training schedule for the year

  • Create and carry out trainings

  • Evaluate and improve trainings


Minimum Commitment: August 29, 2016 - January 20, 2017 with possibility to extend based on performance and project availability

Compensation: As small grassroots organization we are currently unable to compensate our interns. If you are a student and qualify for workstudy we will gladly work with your college or university to make sure that you receive compensation for your time devoted to Passion Impact. We are also more than happy to assist you in receiving course credit.

Volunteer Positions Available: Lend your specialized skills to one of Passion Impact's capacity building committees. Committees meet monthly to do the behind-the-scenes work to ensure that the organization runs smoothly for the students we serve. If you prefer to build relationships with students, a Chaperone or Editor role may be more appropriate for you. Wherever you fit in, we welcome you!
