Purpose: To provide meaningful social and volunteering combined events for Passion Impact students and community members to enjoy one another and benefit the community.
Position & Company Description :
Passion Impact (PI) is a startup nonprofit based in Portland, Oregon that empowers students to build a healthy habit of volunteering their passions. The Social Volunteering Intern is responsible for planning volunteering events that have a social component across all groups within Passion Impact. The Intern will manage the website calendar, send mass email newsletters, create Facebook event pages, and communicate directly with our student groups. Our prime candidate will believe in our Golden Circle and be invested in setting long term goals for larger events and building partnerships with more nonprofits.
Required Education
Recent graduate or currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in business, marketing, hospitality, or any field with prior experience planning events
Experience and Skills Desired
Previous event planning experience highly preferred
Detail oriented and meticulous about making sure that every detail of the event is carried out
Experience budgeting and/or accounting
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
Enthusiastic about Passion Impact’s mission and team focused
Effective written and oral communication skills
Ability to remain calm in a high stress environment
Comfortable speaking in front of a large crowd
Proficient in Google Drive (Particularly Google Forms and Google Sheets or MS Excel) Google Calendar, Meistertask, Mind Meister, Mailchimp, Salesforce, and/or ability to learn technology at a fast pace
Duties
Researching local nonprofits and volunteering events to help build and maintain a database of nonprofits and volunteering opportunities
Design social volunteering events for PI in which we are the primary organization planning the effort
Creating and posting to event pages on Facebook using the PI Facebook profile
Marketing and event promotion
Create and manage a budget for events and forecast of event schedule
Objectives
Create or organize monthly volunteering events that have a social component
Post all events to Passion Impact site calendar
Present at meetings upcoming events including Portland Advisory Board meetings
Minimum Commitment: August 29, 2016 - January 20, 2017 with possibility to extend based on performance and project availability
Compensation: As a small grassroots organizaiton we are currently unable to provide compensation for interns. However, if you are a student and qualify for work study we will gladly work with your college or university to make sure that you receive compensation for your time devoted to Passion Impact.
Additionally, we are happy to help you receive course credit for the internship.

Volunteer Positions Available: Lend your specialized skills to one of Passion Impact's capacity building committees. Committees meet monthly to do the behind-the-scenes work to ensure that the organization runs smoothly for the students we serve.
