To grow and enhance Passion Impact’s positive publicity in Portland and through social media

Description : Passion Impact is a startup nonprofit based in Portland, Oregon that empowers students to build a healthy habit of volunteering their passions. Our Public Relations Intern will be responsible for managing our outward brand to the Portland, State, National, and International community. We are looking for consistent advertising and branding with regard to our vision to stick and grow in people’s minds. Our prime candidate will not only believe in our Golden Circle, but be invested in setting long term goals for our social media sites and executing weekly checkpoints and evaluations in order to ensure those goals are being met. Improvement is the name of the game, so let's have fun with it, increase followers, provide valuable information/links/resources and stay involved via our online presence!

Required Education:

  • Graduate or currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in marketing, communication, or related field of study

Experience and Skills Desired:

  • Wordpress knowledge

  • Positive communication through email, phone, Skype, and face-to-face

  • Proficient in Google Drive (Particularly Google Forms and Google Sheets or MS Excel) Google Calendar, Meistertask, Mind Meister, Mailchimp, Salesforce, and/or ability to learn technology at a fast pace

  • Storytelling and writing background


  • Increase all SM engagement by 50% throughout internship

  • Increase followers on each SM platform to over 4000

  • Receive PR referenced publication in a local paper or on a website

  • Design graphics for and keep the Wordpress website updated with all of our current actions

  • Understand how Ethical Reasoning in Action ties to the internship, the people involved, and to yourself

  • Complete an Internship Portfolio that includes a personal reflection and a presentation

  • Create at volunteer opportunities for at least 5 students to get engaged


  • Grow and maintain a positive LinkedIn, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram presence

  • Create & distribute Press Releases

  • Keep our website updated with media and written content

  • Evaluate each SM outlet at the outset of your internship and each according week

  • Create a long term vision for each SM outlet for you and subsequent interns

  • Build into the vision evaluative points to make sure your goals are being met

  • Based on weekly evaluations, alter the messages and improve the direction of each SM outlet

  • Collaborate with all team members to promote our work through PR

  • Collaborate with donor communications intern to understand what donors want to see

Minimum Commitment: August 29, 2016 - January 20, 2017 with possibility to extend based on performance and project availability

Compensation: As a small grassroots organizaiton we are currently unable to provide compensation for interns. However, if you are a student and qualify for work study we will gladly work with your college or university to make sure that you receive compensation for your time devoted to Passion Impact. Additionally, we are happy to help you receive course credit for the internship.
