Program Evaluation Internship

Purpose: To provide support to the COIO in evaluating Passion Impact’s Programs.

Position Description: Passion Impact is a startup nonprofit based in Portland, Oregon that empowers students to build a healthy habit of volunteering their passions. The Program Evaluation Intern will provide support in conducting evaluations through surveying students and nonprofit organizations to determine the successes and failures of the Volunteer Fair Program. Results will be used to continually improve the Nonprofit Training and the Volunteer Fair Programs. The intern will be primarily responsible for outreach and follow up with program beneficiaries, entering data, and assisting the COIO with analyzing data to make recommendations that will improve our programs.

Required Education

  • Recent graduate or currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in nonprofit management, international relations, social work, sociology, statistics, or related field.

Required Skills

  • Extremely detail oriented

  • Enthusiastic and team focused

  • Experience cold-calling preferred but not required (We are looking for someone who is comfortable being on the phone with people who they’ve never met and communicating with a very diverse audience)

  • Proficient with Google Drive (Particularly Google Forms and Google Sheets or MS Excel) Google Calendar, Meistertask, Mind Meister, Mailchimp, Salesforce, and/or ability to learn technology at a fast pace

  • Basic knowledge of statistics

  • Experience organizing and/or building databases (Salesforce is a plus)

  • Previous experience in evaluating nonprofit or educational programs, using data to make recommendations for improvement is recommended but not required

  • Ability to synthesize large datasets into reports for a diverse audience

  • A desire to learn and assist with the continuous improvement of Passion Impact’s program evaluations

Objectives :

  • Provide assistance to COIO in monitoring and evaluating the Volunteer Fair Program

  • Identify successes and shortfalls of the program and use data to make recommendations for how to build a more successful program

  • Meet required minimum survey quotas in order to provide statistically sound data for evaluations

  • Understand how Ethical Reasoning in Action ties to the internship, the people involved, and to yourself

  • Complete an Internship Portfolio that includes a personal reflection and a presentation

Duties :

  • Communicate with program participants to conduct program evaluation surveys via phone and email

  • Enter data and analyze results to identify program successes and shortfalls

  • Make recommendations to improve programs

Minimum Commitment: August 29, 2016 - January 20, 2017 with possibility to extend based on performance and project availability

Compensation: As a small grassroots organizaiton we are currently unable to provide compensation for interns. However, if you are a student and qualify for work study we will gladly work with your college or university to make sure that you receive compensation for your time devoted to Passion Impact. Additionally, we are happy to help you receive course credit for the internship.
