Fundraising Events Internship

Purpose: To plan small fundraising events and provide logistical support in preparation for larger fundraisers.

Position & Company Description : Passion Impact is a startup nonprofit based in Portland, Oregon that empowers students to build a healthy habit of volunteering their passions. As a nonprofit we rely heavily on donations from individuals to enable us to accomplish our mission. Fundraising events are an important outreach effort for us to acquire new donors. Reporting to the COIO, the Fundraising Events intern will take a lead role in planning 2 small-scale fundraising events, and will also provide logistical support in planning the annual fundraising event at the end of the year.

Required Education:

  • Recent graduate or currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in marketing, hospitality, operations, nonprofit management or related field of study preferred

Required Skills:

  • Previous event planning and/or fundraising experience highly preferred

  • Experience budgeting and/or accounting

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

  • Enthusiastic about Passion Impact’s mission and team focused

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to remain calm in a high stress environment

  • Comfortable speaking in front of a large crowd

  • Passionate about fundraising and furthering Passion Impact’s mission

  • Proficient in Google Drive (Particularly Google Forms and Google Sheets or MS Excel) Google Calendar, Meistertask, Mind Meister, Mailchimp, Salesforce, and/or ability to learn technology at a fast pace


  • Provide logistical support in preparation for year-end event and early Spring fundraiser

  • Plan and carry out 1-2 smaller scale fundraising events per quarter

  • Understand how Ethical Reasoning in Action ties to the internship, the people involved, and to yourself

  • Complete an Internship Portfolio that includes a personal reflection and a presentation

Duties :

  • Plan 2 smaller fundraising events (approximately 50 attendees)

  • Solicit donations from local businesses for year end event

  • Set goals for fundraising and attendance for each event

  • Promote events via email, social media, etc. to reach attendance goals

Minimum Commitment: August 29, 2016 - January 20, 2017 with possibility to extend based on performance and project availability

Compensation: As a small grassroots organizaiton we are currently unable to provide compensation for interns. However, if you are a student and qualify for work study we will gladly work with your college or university to make sure that you receive compensation for your time devoted to Passion Impact.
Additionally, we are happy to help you receive course credit for the internship.
