NOTE - THIS IS THANKSGIVING SUNDAY!!

This is an excellent opportunity to help The M.O.R.G.A.N. Project raise awareness and funds to support our multi-sensory Quality of Life support programs for children with disabiities!

We have been assigned a water station along the courseway, and it will be our responsibiity to set up the station, mix the gatorade, fill the cups and clean up along our assigned stretch of road. We will be handing out water, gatorade to the runners throughout the marathon on the north course.

Our water station is just north of SR528, located at Gloria Del Episcopal Church:
3735 Indian River Dr
Cocoa, FL 32926
Directions: http://mapq.st/2foBh7I

Our station needs to be ready to go at 5:50am so ALL volunteers need to be at the meeting point no later than 5:00am. We should be done around 9:30am, done with cleanup and out no later than 10:00am. Please park in the church parking lot - DO NOT PARK IN THE GRASS.

THIS IS FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
We encourage our "team" to wear your favorite space-themed costumes as we will be cheering the runners on, too! This is a fast paced volunteer opportunity and you will spend the time on your feet (very little opportunity to sit) Our water station theme this year is "Area 51". We have some costumes available for you, or you can create your own within this theme.

We have done this before and although its hard work it is also SO MUCH FUN!! Even more so if you bring a friend to share the day with:)

Excellent opportunity for anyone that needs a lot of community service hours!

MARATHON INFO:

A long, scenic marathon and half-marathon event that takes runners along a course that unfolds entirely along the waters of the Indian River that flows between the cities of Cocoa and Cocoa Beach, the Space Coast Marathon & Half Marathon features a course known for long, flat stretches shaded by the ever-present palm trees along the roads.

It’s also famous for its few long, sloping gentle hills, and for being Florida’s oldest marathon road race event, as race organizers and runners will celebrate its 45th annual running in the late fall of 2016. Both the 13.1-mile half marathon and the 26.2-mile full marathon start on Brevard Avenue near Cocoa’s Riverfront Park, whose pavilion serves as the finish line for both races as well.

From the starting line, runners follow an out-and-back course that takes them northward along Indian River Drive for the entire length of the course, for a long straightway for six and a half miles out and then a long straightaway return run for six and a half miles back in toward the finish line.

This all-volunteer organization is a one-stop referral hub for children with special needs in our community!
