The Parks Foundation of Highland Park is currently seeking qualified candidates who reside in Highland Park, IL to serve on the Board to support the mission and work of the Foundation and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance to the Foundation.
Serving as a Board member of the Foundation is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about the Foundation’s mission and who has a track record of leadership. Board members will have achieved leadership stature in recreation, business, government, philanthropy and/or the nonprofit sector.
Foundation Board members will consider the Foundation a philanthropic priority.
So that the Foundation can credibly solicit contributions from foundations, organizations and individuals, the Foundation expects to have all Board members make an annual contribution that is thoughtful, caring and commensurate with their capacity to give.
Board members serve three-year terms.
Board Member Responsibilities are as Follows:
Engage fully in fundraising by soliciting support for the Foundation.
Participate in strategic planning and developing Foundation policy.
Act as a goodwill ambassador for the Foundation and PDHP.
Review agenda and supporting materials prior to Board and committee meetings.
Review, approve and be knowledgeable of the Foundation’s annual budget.
Review and monitor Foundation’s financial statements.
Serve on committees or task forces and offer to take on special assignments.
Identify and recruit additional Board members.
Serve as a mentor to new Board members.
Demonstrate personal qualities of integrity, credibility and passion for enriching the lives of the participants PDHP serves.
Attend and support Foundation events.
Time Commitment:
The Foundation holds approximately six Board meetings per year.
Each Board member can expect to spend approximately 2 hours per month on Foundation related business in addition to Foundation meetings and events.

Description
The Parks Foundation of Highland Park is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that supports the mission of the Park District of Highland Park by raising and granting supplemental funding for: programs, services, the reduction of fees charged for programs for participants who are experiencing economic difficulty, facilities, capital projects, technology, and the acquisition of open space areas for active or passive recreation.
