Name of Event: River Relay 2017

Location: Mission County Park 2, 7675 Padre Circle (different from last year!)

Date/Time: Saturday, November 11 th. Event time is 9AM-1PM. Volunteers are needed in shifts between 6:30AM-1PM

Event Description: Discover the redeveloped Mission Reach Trail with River Relay 2017, a 5K run/walk or kayak racing event focused on exploring the recreation and wellness opportunities your restored river has to offer. The race is a team or solo event that involves kayaking 4k down the beautiful San Antonio River or running/walking 5k on the country's largest urban environmental restoration project, the Mission Reach, to the finish line at Mission County Park 2. Held on Saturday, November 11th from 9am-1pm, this event will also have Alamo Beer, music, food trucks, and family-friendly environmental and wellness vendors. Presented by the San Antonio River Foundation, Alamo Beer, and Valero Energy Foundation, proceeds benefit the San Antonio River Foundation to support the creation of more environmental and recreational experiences on the river. Volunteering Description: Volunteers are needed in 2-3 hour shifts for set up and take down, working with the racers during check-in, helping kayakers enter and exit the water, manning water stations and cheering on racers while keeping them going in the right direction on the course. Please be advised that some positions require heavy physical labor.

The San Antonio River Foundation's mission is to enhance the natural beauty, recreational use and public appreciation of the entire San Antonio River through Bexar, Wilson, Karnes and Goliad counties. The River Foundation relies on community support and involvement to fulfill our mission.

Description

Since our founding in 2003, we have been supported by donations from the private sector - individuals, businesses and corporations. A 501(c)3 organization described under code 509(a)(1), the San Antonio River Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors who receive input from a variety of advisory committees. The River Foundation offices are located inside the San Antonio River Authority building, 100 E. Guenther Street.
