Duties: Under immediate supervision of the Director of Volunteer Programs, the Volunteer Program and Training Assistant intern will carry out several tasks related to the recruitment, placement, orientation, training and ongoing retention of volunteers throughout the agency. Major duties will include assisting with and updating curricula for volunteer orientations and trainings, helping to coordinate volunteer project and events, and other day-to-day volunteer management processes as needed.

General Description: Under immediate supervision of the Director of Volunteer Programs, the Volunteer Program and Training Assistant intern will carry out several tasks related to the recruitment, placement, orientation, training and ongoing retention of volunteers throughout the agency. Major duties will include day-to-day volunteer management processes, while also occasionally helping with projects such as updating curricula for volunteer orientations, and helping coordinate volunteer recruitment efforts and special events.

Specific Duties:
* Ensure day-to-day Volunteer Program procedures are followed
o Screening/interviewing prospective volunteers/interns
o Correspond with those interested in volunteering
o Schedule volunteer orientations and trainings
o Compile/submit Quarterly Volunteer Hours
o Identify and coordinate ways to improve the experience of volunteers
o Assist with other projects as needed
* Attend volunteer orientations and trainings (these take place Saturday mornings, and on very occasional weeknights).
o Prepare meeting room
o Greet volunteers
o Assist Community Education Co-Facilitators in set-up and logistics for session
o Note and gather feedback from attendees and facilitators on improvements to be made
o Help update orientation and training curricula based on feedback from volunteers and staff
* Help coordinate volunteer nights/Saturdays
o These could include: project night, education sessions, social gatherings, etc.

* Must be able to attend most volunteer orientation and training sessions (Saturday mornings, some Saturday afternoons) - planned absences may be cleared with supervisor
* Supports Planned Parenthood’s Mission

Commitment:
15 hours per week over the course of one semester, to include some Saturday hours and at least two mornings or afternoons spent in the office helping with day-to-day Volunteer Program operations
