Northern Virginia families with low-income need your help in preparing their tax returns and assisting the program as greeter, screener, Spanish translator and/or IT support. Join the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program 2018 now!
VITA provides free tax preparation for eligible taxpayers who made less than $54,000 in 2017. Multiple locations are available throughout Northern Virginia for volunteers.
Purpose: Provide free tax preparation for eligible taxpayers who are making less than $54,000 in 2017.
Duties: Provide basic tax return preparation and program assistance for eligible taxpayers. Provide high quality assistance to all taxpayers. Deal with the public in a helpful and supportive manner, including interview skills which will be provided as needed. Must be friendly, dependable and flexible. Maintain confidentiality of customer information and uphold the highest ethical standard.
Volunteer Benefits: We provide free IRS tax law and software training. Advanced Tax Return Preparers who meet the requirements can also receive CE credits from IRS.
