Join an award-winning team to bridge the achievement gap in Boston schools by tutoring high school students in Math and Literacy at Codman Academy.
When: Saturdays from 8:30am - 12:30pm
Program Runs: 09/24/2016-12/10/2016
Where: 10 Epping St, Dorchester, MA, 02124
Duties:
-Create lesson plan for student in preparation for each tutorial session
-Execute lesson plans
-Proctor student assessments and tailor tutorial to fit student's growing skill knowledge
-Use creativity to engage student in difficult lessons
-Serve as an example of college success for your student
-Grade your student daily on participation, effort, and respect
-Work as a member of a team of tutors who reflect, plan, and problem solve together with the help of two supervisors
-Prepare progress reports for students
-Periodic clerical work: filing curriculum, calling parents, etc
-Hold students accountable for code of conduct
-Attend mandatory training before start of tutorial program
Special requirements:
-Passion for working with urban youth.
-Adherence to strict professional standards as regards to conduct, dress, timeliness, etc.
-Eagerness to reflect on and improve performance.

Volunteers eligible to receive a subsidized transportation pass. Position is also Federal Work Study eligible.

Tutors for All bridges the achievement gap one student at a time. Through the creation of partnerships between colleges, public schools, and community agencies, we offer underserved students the systematic one-on-one instruction they need in order to thrive.
Description
Tutors for All is a nonprofit educational organization that pairs adult tutors with a student from a high-poverty Boston charter or district public school. Tutor and student work together in a one-on-one partnership throughout the semester to improve the child's literacy and numeracy skills. Inspired by best practices at the award-winning MATCH school, these programs have been proven effective at elementary, middle, and high school levels.
