About:
The Baltimore City Community College Refugee Youth Project (BCCC RYP) provides after school and summer programs to refugee students grades K-12. They receive tutoring, mentoring, English classes, STEM education, special workshops, and art courses. Each year, RYP serves over 300 students with the assistance of nearly 300 volunteers.
ArtWorks is a social enterprise founded by RYP in December 2012. Students create African necklaces, prayer flags, scented candles, and similar culturally relevant products. This year, ArtWorks is expanding from festival sales to multiple consignment agreements, gallery showings, and an online store. ______________________________________________________________
We Need You If: You are passionate about using your skills to make a difference! By passionate we mean: excited about the mission of the Refugee Youth PRoject and committed to making this position a priority.
Why It Matters: Our students create art work as volunteers; however, as ArtWorks grows, it will become an important training program for refugee youth. Strong sales are essential to sustainability, and creating social media and market strategies are the foundation of that process.
