About

Volunteer Naturalists lead groups of children on nature walks on Irvine’s campus or outreach programs in school classrooms.

Responsibilities:

* Attend a 4-session spring or fall training course

* Lead at least 3 school programs during first season and then a minimum of 6 school programs in the year

* Attend seasonal update meetings

* Participate in continuing education programs

Qualifications:

* Completion of training course

* Interested in the environment, children and education

* Enthusiastic about learning natural history

* Willingness to engage in continued professional development through attending programs at Irvine Nature Center.

Time Commitment:

School walks last between 2 and 4 hours. Please plan to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the scheduled walk time to gather needed materials. Plan to stay 15-30 minutes after the completion of the walk to clean up materials used and debrief with staff and other volunteers.

Tuesday, September 6 th 9:30-12:30

Thursday, September 8 th 9:30-12:30

Tuesday, September 13 th 9:30-12:30

Thursday, September 15 th 9:30-1:30 (lunch provided)
