ORGANIZATION: Little Friends Rescue

DESCRIPTION: Foster home caregivers will foster a small animal from LFR (as long as they are within Southern Ontario). This comes with the commitment of at least 2 months.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The foster home caregiver is responsible for the providing and caring for the foster animal. LFR will provide the foster caregiver a cage for the animal and veterinary care (if needed), but the foster caregiver is responsible for bedding and food for the animal. They are required to bring the animal to adoption events or allow LFR staff to take the animal for the duration of the event. They will send photos and descriptions to LFR on a biweekly basis as a means to encourage the adoption of the animal. The foster caregiver must be willing to work with the animal to make them adoptable, this means handling the animal on a daily basis. More information is available at http://www.adoptapet.com/LilFriendsRescue/foster-care-faq/.

SUPPORT: Foster caregivers can contact LFR with any questions or help they may need. This is an ongoing resource for them.

QUALIFICATIONS: Foster caregivers would benefit from animal handling/care experience, experience with the specific breed they are fostering, driver’s licence for transport.

BENEFITS: Foster caregivers have the opportunity to lean new skills from interacting with LFR staff, while supporting a small animal rescue.

APPLICATION: Please fill out the form in the link: http://www.adoptapet.com/LilFriendsRescue/foster/

About Little Friends Rescue

Location:

Welland, Welland, ON N1H 2P6, CA

Mission Statement

Our aim is to create a no-kill community for small animals through our rescue efforts as well as public education.

Description

Little Friends Rescue (LFR) is a non-profit small animal rescue that is dedicated to helping small animals in our community. LFR rehomes, rehabilitates and provides hospice care for rabbits and other domestic rodents. The small animals that enter LFR usually come from laboratories, high volume shelters, emergency owner surrenders or are found abandoned.

LFR was founded in 2015 by Rebecca Feddema and Corey Arsenault. It began with rescuing a small group of rats and has now grown into Southern Ontario’s largest rodent rescue. LFR is currently operating through a series of foster homes based in Southern Ontario and aims to have a shelter location open in early 2017.

LFR currently offers refuge for rats, mice, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits, and chinchillas.

Our work is made possible by the donations of our generous supporters and our team of hard working volunteers.
