DESCRIPTION: Volunteers will attend an event, such as an Adoptathon or a Pet Expo. Events type range and vary in locations within Southern Ontario. The main goal is to spread awareness of the Rescue and encourage adoptions. Event volunteer will assist in all aspects of event preparation and execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The event volunteer will assist on the event day(s) for set-up, guest assistance, and clean-up. The position involves handling small animals. Knowledge about small animals is an asset (not required), as well as, a driver’s licence is preferred (not required). Volunteer must be willing to talk with the public about the rescue and help sell items for donations.

SUPPORT: Volunteers will be accompanied by a knowledgeable member of LFR, until they are ready to perform events on their own (if needed).

QUALIFICATIONS: Event volunteers would benefit from having people skills, animal handling/care experience, retail experience. Varies on tasks.

BENEFITS: Event volunteers may be able to attend events free of charge or at a reduced price. They have the opportunity to learn new skills from interacting with LFR staff, meet others in the community, while supporting a small animal rescue.
