The Institute for the Study of Religious and Anomalous Experience (ISRAE), is offering a volunteer position for a copy editor with academic research editing experience to help with streamlining the research publication process. This position is perfect for graduates who wish to supplement existing experience, established copy editors who wish to contribute volunteer time to a unique research institute,or individuals who need the experience to re-enter the job market.


The ideal applicant will have:

  1. A passion for the scientific, cultural, and psychological exploration of paranormal experiences.

  2. Demonstrated editing ability in both public print domains (web text, marketing) but primarily in academic manuscript editing in APA format.

  3. Willingness to help undergraduates with their research writing skills through manuscript editing.

  4. Ability to layout manuscripts in a professional journal format for draft upload to research sharing websites (i.e. academia.edu).

  5. Occasional editing and layout work for online newsletters and related materials.

  6. Willingness to work with volunteer marketers as a copy editor for word content.

  7. Ability to meet deadlines and work unsupervised to meet objective goals.



The duration of the Internship is ongoing, with the expectation of approximately 10-20 hours per month of editing work. Preference will be given to applicants who are willing to volunteer for a longer period (12 to 24 months). Successful applicants will receive appropriate references and endorsement for ongoing work. Ongoing membership in the organization is also available. A non-disclosure agreement is a requirement for this internship.

ISRAE is a non-profit research institute containing students, professionals, academics, and veteran investigators devoted to the sci entific study of haunt phenomena and religious experience. Our simple goal: to conduct and collect scientifically valid information and data about anomalous phenomena for the purpose of scientific publication.
