We are seeking a UI Designer, Web Usability professional.

Responsibilities:

* Scientist engagement component for the RG Mobile App.

* UI/UX development by integrating existing and future functionality into feature based, Single Page Applications that use public and internal APIs.

* Assist with the process of visualizing new feature concepts using a prototype workflow that incorporates tools like: Adobe Photoshop, Sketch, Invision, Proto.io, Lucid Charts, Draw.io.

* Write clean, maintainable, and testable code.

* Work closely with the product team and rest of development lab.

* Attend project kickoff meetings with account management and/or clients.


Experience:

* One (1) to five (5) years of experience of front end web development with UX/UI.

* Ability to produce a demo, portfolio, or samples.

* Experience with graphic design, web design frameworks like Bootstrap, Semantic UI, yui.

* Experience with at least one Javascript MVC web framework such as; AngularJS, Backbone.js, Ember.js or KnockoutJS.

* Strong user interface / user experience background.

* Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Gimp or other Graphic Design tools.

* Experience using python, working knowledge of Linux, Web 2.0 / AJAX skills, HTML 5, CSS 3

* Experienced with Preprocessors, Linting, Task Runners, Code Reviews, Test Frameworks, Package Managers and Version Control.

* Experienced with some of the many modern web packages like, angular, angular-material, bootstrap, ionic, backbone, ember, react, jQuery, socket.io and lodash.


Education:

* Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline

Description

Rare Genomics Institute (RGI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping rare disease
patients find a diagnosis, treatment, and pathway to a cure. Through personalized research
projects, RGI provides access to world leading medical institutions and scientists to conduct
genomic sequencing, coordinates with clinicians and counselors to interpret findings, and offers an
online crowd-funding platform to deliver financial solutions. RGI also supports rare disease
advocacy by fostering an online community of rare disease patients and supporting rare disease
research through a yearly grant competition.

Since being founded in 2011, RGI has completed over 300 genetic sequencing and analysis
projects, assisted patients fund over $3.5 million worth of genomic sequencing, discovered 8
unique genetic mutations in-house, given over $2 million dollars in grants to researchers on rare
disease, and developed an online community with over 10,000 rare disease members.
Through volunteers, RGI is able to slowly push science and health care forward to meet the needs
