Fort Williams Park Foundation

The Fort Wiliams Park Foundation seeks an experienced illustrator who is interested in helping us develop a permanent sign for our new Children's Garden at Fort Williams Park. See www.fortwilliams.org/childrensgarden for information on the site.

The sign will include 3 infographic type illustrations, as well as other possible spot art of birds, bees or butterflies (exact content TBD). The main illustration on the 24"x36" sign will be a bio-filter pond and stream, a second smaller meadow ecosystem illustration/spot, and a third smaller woodland ecosystem illustration/spot (all elements that are part of the Children's Garden). Blocks of text will need to work among the illustrations.

We are hoping to install this permanent sign in early 2017. Whoever does the illustrations will get full art credit on the sign, as well as for any use on our website or social media.

If you are interested in hearing more please contact us.

Thank you!

Mission Statement

The Friends of Fort Williams Park, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, preserves and enhances the natural resources and visitor experience of Fort Williams Park by providing planning and stewardship for projects that support the Park’s ecology, accessibility, and open space.

Description

The Ecology Project is a long-term, park-wide effort by the Friends to improve the ecological health and sustainability of Fort Williams Park, resulting in a greater variety and abundance of pollinators and birds, increased natural beauty, and a heightened sense of exploration and discovery for people. Objectives for the Ecology Project include:

  • Reduce and control invasive plant and insect populations
  • Preserve and expand native plant communities and increase biodiversity
  • Improve open space and access for passive recreation
  • Foster collaboration, community participation and stewardship
  • Provide opportunities for environmental education
  • The Friends of Fort Williams Park (formerly, Fort Williams Park Foundation) was established in 2001. Our business operations and any work that we do in the Park is paid for by private donations, proceeds from events, and by grants from charitable foundations and the national government.
