Mission Statement

Founded in 1990, the Sibling Support Project is a national program dedicated to the life-long and ever-changing concerns of millions of brothers and sisters of people with special health, developmental, and mental health needs.

Description

Our sibling initiatives include:

* Sibshops. Sibshops are lively events just for school-age brothers and sisters of kids with special needs. There are now over 400 Sibshops in most US states and Canadian provinces and in eight countries.

* Online Communities for Brothers and Sisters. The Sibling Support Project hosts the Internet's largest and oldest social networking sites for siblings and other family members, including SibNet, SibTeen, Sib20 and GKSN (Grandparents of Kids with Special Needs).

* Books. We’ve created books for and about brothers and sisters including Thicker Than Water, The Sibling Survival Guide, Views from Our Shoes, The Sibling Slam Book, Living with a Brother or Sister with Special Needs, and Sibshops: Workshops for Siblings of Children with Special Needs.

* Workshops and Trainings. Since 1990, we have presented more than 300 workshops on sibling issues and trainings on the
