USCRI NC is currently seeking a part-time intern to assist refugees within their first 90 days of being in the country. During this time, it is imperative that they complete a number of important tasks to set up the building blocks of their new lives in the U.S. The intern will be trained by a staff member and job responsibilities will include:

  • · Securing presenters for Cultural Integrations Workshops;
  • · Assisting clients in completing the assessment forms for Cultural Orientation;
  • · Aiding case managers with client applications and appointments for food benefits, Medicaid, and Social Security;
  • · Attending community meetings focused on the success of refugees in the area;
  • · Facilitating social gatherings between refugee families and the community;
  • · Gathering information on resources for clients (e.g. locations of ESL classes, summer childcare, parenting classes, etc);
  • · Ensuring file accuracy for program data monitoring;
  • · Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor; and
  • · Maintaining a high level of confidentiality and privacy for all clients.

The US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants is a private non-profit organization with field offices and partner agencies throughout the US. USCRI NC is dedicated to assisting refugees and immigrants in the Triangle. USCRI NC resettles aproximately 300 refugees from Asia and Africa each year by providing case managment, employment services, and educational opportunities.
