Volunteers Me, Sally, Robin and Kelly
Mini's from Heaven Ky Oaks day 2018

Mini's from Heaven a 501 (c) 3 non profit offers volunteers a little hard work and more joy than one can imagine. Join our team of handler's as we take miniature therapy horses to visit nursing homes, assisted living facilities, schools, etc. We also partner with the LMPD to provide the Just Say Whoa(r) to Bullying program to area schools.

Our volunteers are each trained to perform all of the basics of caring for and handling miniature therapy horses. They clean stalls, feed, groom, condition, and continually train with the mini's on their scheduled day throughout their service with us. Volunteers will train for one of two different positions and will then volunteer to be scheduled to accompany our team on visits once training is completed. This opportunity will work with anyone's schedule. Our initial training schedule requires a 1 to 2 hour commitment 1 day per week for 6 - 8 weeks. All volunteer training is provided and no prior experience with horses is required. Training is part seminar style and part hands on training with the horses. Once training is completed volunteers can select any 2 hour time slot on any one weekday or evening to work with the mini's independently. Our therapy visits require a 5 hour commitment and are scheduled on both weekdays and weekends. Volunteers are provided with a calendar of upcoming therapy visits and can sign up for those that fit their schedule on a first come, first serve basis. The hard work involved in this opportunity is totally overshadowed by the love that comes from the heart of our miniature therapy horses and the people that they serve. These little horses absolutely love their handlers and they don't care how we look, what kind of car we drive, or what our successes might be. Their only wish is that we love them back with the excellent care they deserve. They are smart, gentle, funny, and caring little horses who lift the human spirit of everyone they meet. We are a Christian based organization serving God by serving His people. Those who thrive on drama or are concerned with getting their hands dirty need not apply. A strong dedicated work ethic is a must.

Mini's from Heaven is very much a family of folks who love horses and helping people. Most of our volunteers signed up for a six month obligation, but have remained with us for several years. We work
hard in both hot and cold weather, get really dirty, but are grateful for the opportunity to do so. The joy that our work brings to others is priceless.

Our trainer, current volunteers and each of our Miniature Therapy Horses have been evaluated and Qualified by the American Miniature Therapy Horse Association (AMTHA). AMTHA is the only national organization whose standards of training were written specifically for miniature therapy equines and whose evaluation process is specific to miniature therapy equines only.

Mission Statement

Lifting the human spirit through the hearts of little horses. ©

We are a 501 (C) 3 non profit corporation of all volunteers, trained by the founder to take our Miniature Therapy Horses to visit nursing homes, assisted living facilities, schools, and other places in the community. Our little horses love people and they are trained to visit indoors and out while remaining calm and relaxed as they interact with the elderly and children. Our horses are bathed before each visit and indoors wear descreet potty bags and little rubber shoes to prevent them from slipping or damaging floors with their hooves. They are each less than 30" tall and spread love and happiness everywhere they go.
