Mission Statement

No Longer Empty's mission is to widen public engagement with contemporary art and to promote socially-conscious artists and to build community resilience through art.

No Longer Empty is a contemporary art organization that curates museum-quality exhibitions in underutilized spaces across New York City.

Description

No Longer Empty curates site-specific exhibitions in vacancies across New York City.

Each project begins with questions. We pursue rigorous community research, artist studio visits and curatorial exploration in order to present a site-specific exhibitions to a general public.

Each exhibition is accompanied by cultural events and educational programs. Through these interdisciplinary programs and collaborations with local and city-wide organizations, No Longer Empty expands the notion of the curatorial themes and the relevancy of the art.

All No Longer Empty exhibitions and programs contribute to its replicable and scalable model for connecting art with a community's long-term quality of life.

In our first five-years, No Longer Empty has reanimated underutilized spaces and landmark buildings through site-specific exhibitions that often revive their history and importance to a neighborhood. These include the iconic music store, Tower Records, in the East Village, the Italian-Renaissance retirement mansion for formerly wealthy millionaires in the Bronx, a former belt factory that made the Invisible Dog toy leash and most recently, Aaron Burr's Bank of Manhattan in Long Island City.
