How can a low-income family prioritize between paying for food, rent, prescription medications, and incontinence supplies for their senior family members? Or suddenly cover the costs of a wheelchair, a walker, or other home-care equipment necessary to assist a loved one dealing with health challenges?

What happens with the medical equipment that survives a loved one who has passed? Too often, wheelchairs sit uselessly in landfills and garages. Families who have lost loved ones wonder what to do with the family member's bath equipment and diapers that are left.

YOU CAN HELP increase access to medical equipment and supplies while reducing unnecessary environmental waste. How? Come volunteer at ReCARES! We are a non-profit organization that collects and redistributes various medical equipment and supplies.

Our volunteers are caring, good listeners, great Tetris players, and experts at tidying up. Overall, they are eager to create a more inclusive society while also loving our planet. Does it sound like you? Come join our team!

Our volunteers gather every Friday from 11 am-5 pm to set up the site that serves over 100 people who want to donate, receive items, or ask a question. ReCARES is open to the public only on Fridays, from 12 to 4 pm.

*Previous medical training/knowledge NOT required. Knowledge of other languages aside from English is welcome.

Mission Statement

ReCARES increases access to medical equipment and supplies while reducing unnecessary environmental waste.

Several times a week, in locations throughout the SF Bay Area, volunteers gather to collect a wide variety of medical equipment and supplies. We redistribute these items to people in need during the same open hours.

ReCARES serves a diverse population, many of them are people with disabilities, caregivers, or senior adults who come to find the equipment and supplies to live safely and comfortably in their homes. Most of them are also part of the African-American, Latinx, or immigrant communities who live in the SF Bay Area.

Our excess inventory goes to groups that do overseas charity work.
