PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The fundraising events coordinator is responsible for handling logistics for our fundraising events, which are held approximately twice per month. This includes coordinating with Fundraising Director and leadership team as needed on dates and timing, liaising with event venues, ensuring events are staffed with volunteers, and handling other details necessary to hold successful fundraising events.

Salary / Pay Rate: Volunteer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with Fundraising Director to schedule fundraising events, keeping in mind DPA’s other calendar commitments.

• Help brainstorm ideas for successful fundraising events.

• Follow up on inquiries from 3 rd parties interested in partnering with DPA for a fundraiser.

• Coordinate logistics for events including communication with venue, obtaining needed volunteers, and any other details required (which will vary by event).

• Ensure all needed marketing is in place, working with Marketing Director and other marketing team members as needed.

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS: Will have regular and continuous contact virtually and in person with DPA leadership team, DPA volunteers, event venue hosts, donors, and others. Contacts with others will require tactful exchanges and a positive, professional demeanor.

CONTROLS OVER WORK: This position reports to the Fundraising Director and the Executive Director.

TIME COMMITMENT: This position requires, on average, 5-10 hours per week, but this may vary according to upcoming events and their complexity.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education and Experience: Must be a high school graduate with some related animal/rescue group experience.

• Ability to work virtually (phone, email). A flexible work schedule with at least minimal availability during the work day is preferred.

• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and be organized and skilled at record-keeping.

• Event planning experience is a plus.
