We are a non-profit, 501(3)(c), group that works to help those with hearing loss in our community. Currently, we have a website, www.hla-lakeland.org, that was developed using WordPress. We use the Weaver Theme.

We are looking to add-on (bolt-on) a new functionality. This is a rather large add-on of over 25 new screens. The concept is to network local Audiologists and Hearing Instrument Specialists (HIS) and provide them with access to our hearing aid inventory (which needs to be added). The Audiologist/HIS will make more donations, request a needed hearing aid from the inventory (which we provide to them for free), post a needed hearing aid, etc. The system will need to be secure and will require registration/logon.

The screen designs have been drawn up and we will need a Skype session to go over each one to assure that they are understood. We are very open to new concepts and any changes. Since we have only a basic understanding of WordPress, we will want to heavily minimize any CSS or side-line coding, preferring to stay within the WordPress and plug-in structures. We ask that anything new/different be reviewed before put in place.

Since we anticipate a slow introduction/roll-out, we will surely get requests for changes, new features, etc. We would want the volunteer to stay with us for a few months after initial implementation to work with us on future changes/enhancements. This will be initially a local rollout and we hope to expand regionally or state-wide, depending on success.

Website is highly integrated with social media tools, manages Expo registration, membership payments, donations, etc. So, the chapter is heavily dependent on uptime of the website and stability. Our blog entries feed Facebook and other social media sites automatically.

We are also open to other positve changes that would increase our web reach, collect more donations, add functionality, etc. We will need to watch our space allocation to assure that we don't exceed allowed space or we will need to renegotate space or relocate. We currently use Bluehost to host our site and they have provided excellent service.

Because of the depth of this new functionality, we ask that the volunteer bring strong WordPress experience to the project. Good communication skills also needed, verbally and written, to assure a smooth project.
