Special Olympics Florida -St. Lucie County is seeking volunteers to help plan and organize Special Olympics Florida events locally, serve on the Management Team and serve as Volunteer Coaches.
Volunteers are needed to join the management team to help plan Special Olympics Florida Events in St. Lucie County.Management Team positions include:
Fundraising Coordinator: Responsible for developing and implementing plan for County’s major fundraisers. Recruits fundraising committee members and oversees aspects of planning for fund development. Works with the County Director to develop fundraising budget
Marketing Coordinator: Responsible for maintaining communications with various audiences (coaches, volunteers, general public etc.) to increase awaresness of Special Olympics Florida. Maintain county's social media platform.
Volunteer Coordinator: Oversee a volunteer management system (recruit, screen, orient, place, train, supervise, evaluate and provide recognition) which will ensure a sufficient number of volunteers for staffing all County competition events, committees, management teams, and coaching needs of the County in a safe and healthy environment while minimizing risks to athletes, family members and other volunteers.
Special Olympics Florida -St. Lucie County also has opportunities for coaches and assistant coaches for the following sports
Coaches are the key to a successful sports experience for the Special Olympics athlete. As a coach, you teach sports skills and model good sportsmanship and character. You give Special Olympics athletes the most immediate awareness of their self-worth, ability, courage, and capacity to grow and improve both on the playing field and off. Coaches will be provided training and sports seasons run for 2-3 months.

Description
Special Olympics Florida provides sports training and Olympic-style competition to more than 60,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities throughout the state. Special Olympics Florida is a Level I Accredited Program (highest level of accreditation granted by SOI) and is divided into 11 area programs, which cover over 55 counties.
